MATTY WEIDER
I guess in my mind I thought Matty was gone for good. Well, he’s back. He returned right at the end of September. We have a dedicated thread here, but you’re welcome to post about him here too.
He’s definitely not better. I would say he is more soft spoken and reserved, which could either be due to medication, or he’s realized that there’s consequences for being a total nutcase online who threatens people and is being more careful about his words. But he’s still delusional and irrational and still needs AI to speak for him.
He does have a “protective order” which, I believe, restricts him from contacting or visiting his mother and brother.
The current debacle he is dealing with is his silver hoard. Someone (presumably it was his mother, brother, or other family member) opened a safe deposit account at a local credit union. The silver was left over in his Toyota prior to his arrest and involuntary commitment.
It was definitely smart to not leave roughly $50K laying around and it was also smart not to give him any reason to come back to mom or brother’s house demanding it after his release.
The issue seems to be that he can’t actually get into the vault to access it. Supposedly there was a “door code” to get into the vault itself that he says didn’t work. I’ll take his word on that. I’ve been to several banks with vaults and they didn’t have a “door code” like that – you had to be escorted in by a banker.
Anyway, long story short, it seems like (mother, brother, whoever) should have but failed to add Matty as an “authorized user” of the safe deposit box account.
I am sure Matty can get this sorted out if he has his social worker contact someone who can reach out on his behalf to his estranged family.
Matty insists his silver was “stolen” with no evidence whatsoever.
BRYAN TEW
Bryan is having a not so good week himself. He was warned that he could leave his Winnebago parked in that parking lot next to the VA in Seattle. The warning wasn’t a joke – it was towed away on Thursday.
Bryan is now at a homeless shelter – I’m not sure if this is affiliated with the VA or a general homeless shelter.

I *kinda* sympathize with Bryan here. Yeah, he makes a lot of stupid decisions and throws his money away constantly, but this is an obvious case where not having access to his VA benefits is making it much more difficult for him to get repairs. He has to get permission for every penny he wants to spend. I don’t know if he’s tried to contact his fiduciary or what they said but I can see how it is frustrating and insulting. I would take the middle ground and say he should get some small amount of discretionary allowance before he can get more money released.
